At the initial stage of using an airsoft gun, you should concentrate on learning the various rules and tactics to use the devise perfectly. You come to recognize several functions of the sport so that you are able to participate in competitive sports. Starting with an ordinary gun like the airsoft rifle or a pistol would suffice your need.

You will be able to make up a choice from a variety of airsoft guns that are available in the market. There are very expensive models with sophisticated mechanisms for the high class professionals to take part in competitions. You, as a starter should go for the ordinary type of the gun and thereby should have a feel of the devise. Technically, there are three categories of the gun available in the market.

There are three systems that are followed in these guns for firing the pellets, which are made of plastic and not metal ones to guarantee safety. The manual type of the devise uses the human power to pull back the spring before every shot is fired from the rifle or pistol. The automatic electric guns use the power of an electric motor driven by a battery to draw the piston to make a firing shot.

There are replica guns which use compressed gas to pull the spring back to fire a shot. The guns are merely for entertainment purpose and they should be used by anyone who is at least 18 years old, which is the current standard regulation.

Automatic electric guns or AEGs are run by rechargeable batteries to power electric motors for working on piston or spring to launch pellets. This automatic nature of work has made this gun very popular among users. Japan has developed this gun in an efficient manner and the leading company is Tokyo Marui is the pioneer manufacturer of this variety holding a major portion of the market. Additional modification on the gun with metal body and reinforced plastic has turned it into real looking guns to gain further popularity.

This sort of gun was present by the Tokyo Murai Company of Japan. They hold the better percentage of the market for AEGs till date. They are manufacture with such precision that it is difficult to differentiate between an original and a replica gun with the fine metal body or reinforced plastic cover.

The classic airsoft guns resemble older type of guns and are gas powered. They cost a little bit more than the usual AEG and are generally fitted with long range barrel. All the guns bear red dot sights for short range and telescopic sights for long range fire. Magazines look like the real ones with metal stamped or plastic coated materials. Magazines are of three types' standard, low-capacity and high-capacity.

The performance of the airsoft guns vary in velocities depending upon the low-end pistol to a high-end customized sniper rifle. Heavier pelts are preferred for better accuracy with less velocity whereas the lighter pellets move faster with less accuracy. They are chosen for the pellet speed and reliability.
