Baby showers are parties thrown for friends that are pregnant. This practice has significantly changed over the course of the years and has gradually become more and more elaborate and planned.

When hosting a Baby showers for the expectant mother it gives them a sense of security and warmth in the fact that their friends are coming together to support her by giving moral and financial support in a very emotional time. In today's society, it really isn't strange to find family members, groups of friends or even your church friends and pretty much anyone except the expecting mother helping to arrange the baby shower.

Who To Invite To The Baby Shower Who does one invite? Traditionally, the guest list would only include those closest and dearest to the mother-to-be. It doesn't really matter if the mother-to-be gets a first glimpse at the invitation list as this may help you to get suggestions on who should be invited. However, if you are planning a surprise baby shower, you will have to do some research usually ask the expectant mums parents or very close friends on who should be attending instead of allowing expectant mother to see the invitation list.

If the child is not a firstborn, you may opt to keep the number of guests down to the closest to the mother. Firstborn baby showers tend to have a larger guest list since it is, after all, the mother's first time.

What you need to remember about the baby shower is that the goal is intimacy. So when planning the baby shower try to include those that are close friends and family.

You could use informal ways to invite these guests: email, phone and others. Invitation cards and other letters are the best way, however, as they provide a tangible, traceable evidence of invitation. Plus, it is the most sure and formal way to invite a person - and in many cultures - the only way.

Hosting A Mixed Baby Shower Party Usually a baby shower party is going to tend towards the females only; however it is not unheard of and if the host of the baby shower has catered for the attendance of guys, then inviting the guys would be just fine. This also depends on the guys and whether or not they want to attend, since the party may dwell on topics such as pregnancy, children, and other mother-to-be subjects, they might not be that excited to participate. All in all, it depends on the preference of the person hosting the party and the mother-to-be and whether the guys wish to attend.

Best Venue To Host The Baby Shower The most common places that baby showers are held are in such places as the backyard, formal halls and even restaurants, actually you can host the party in any room or area that has facilities for your guests. One thing you should consider when deciding on the venue of the baby shower is that when you arrive it is not going to be over crowded with people which good cause undue stress on the expectant mother. You should always research your baby shower venue long before the baby shower date.

When to Throw a Baby Shower The most common time for the baby shower to be hosted is one or two months before the expected birth. The baby shower is the perfect time to show your support for the new arrival and to get those baby things that she may not have had time to purchase yet. You really need to make sure that you time the baby shower right as it it is not advisable to host the party to close to the due date, and not to early as this can take away from the excitement of the party and the distraction of pending birth which is the intention of the baby shower party.

For the mother-to-be there is nothing more pleasant than a baby shower. This type of party is intended to take a lot of the stress away from the expectant mother by showing your support and dedication this takes the attention off the child birth and gives them very pleasant memories for both parents (and of course, all the baby gifts) from the invited guests.

With good planning and execution of the baby shower party you will ensure the mother-to-be has a fun and memorable day that she will remember long into the future. As well as helping you to relax and enjoy the day as the baby shower host.
